About Dan

My Floyd County roots run deep.  As a Floyd County native, I

attended Midway Elementary School and Pepperell High School.

Graduating from Berry College, I headed farther south to New

Orleans and obtained a law degree from Tulane.  I have practiced law

for nearly seven years in the Rome Judicial Circuit. During that time, I

have been counsel on over 400 criminal cases.  I am married to a Trion

girl and Shorter grad, the former Brooklyn Trammel.

Due to the volume of cases I have handled over the last few years, I have

become keenly aware of the dire need for a change in leadership in the

Floyd County DA's office.  To put it shortly and simply, my opponent has

shown a serious lack of common sense.  If you have followed some of the

"big headline" cases in the media, I suspect you agree with me.  This lack of

perspective has impaired the effectiveness of the office, thus endangering

the public.  When unjust and meritless cases are prosecuted, not only is

an injustice being done against the accused, but resources are squandered -

resources that should be used against true criminals.

My goal is to restore the common sense values of Floyd Countians and

Romans.  We need to shift the focus towards putting the real criminals

away - not seeking headlines.

Thank you,

Dan Morgan
